Boiler Fate

Wanted to be a deisel Mechanic and got stuck in the boiler room and have been loving it ever since. Assigned to DDG-7 from 77-81. After fireroom and oil shack. Got out and have worked for Hartford Steam Boiler ever since.

Still love what I do and dealing with boilermen who still know how to get things done.

  • Hey Mark I was on the Wilson from 86-89. Was Oil King and then assigned to #2 Fireroom again . Got To decommission her in Oct. 89. Saw where some of you had etched your names on the back of a brass cover . Yeah some of us found them on a watch one night when we were bored and I wasn't washing my dirty laundry in the pit due to being on water hours yet again. What was good was 2 fire controlled the fresh water pumps and we ALWAYS had cold drinking water . Did 2 west pacs on her before going to the England CG 22 . Life was never the same since everyone knew everybody on the Wilson. Every time some of us ran into each other everybody said the same thing ...We missed that old tin can .
