I attended communications school at Naval Station Norfolk in early 1968, fresh out of basic training from San Diego Training Center. After completing training there, I got transferred back to the west coast on "brother transfer"; my oldest brother was stationed at Coronado, CA, having served in the Navy over ten years. He went on to complete twenty years, retiring from the Navy later.
I was stationed in Norfolk while the Navy gathered folks for a commissioning crew. USS MILLER (DE-1091)
