Memorial in front of admin building

I was stationed at Willow Grove from 66 to 69 and then transfered to Quonset Point. My father was atationed at Willow grove for 14 years and retired there in 63

So I was around the base for a good part of my life.

There is a memorial in front of the Adminastration Building for the crew of a P2V that crashed in the mountains of Italy. My dad knew all of the crew and I knew some of them also since it was a close knit group and we spent a lot of time growing up with their families.

My worry is what is going to happen to that memorial next year when the base closes.

Any one have any thoughts on what can be done?

Thanks

  • I was in VP64 from 1969-77. I thought that NAS was already decommisioned. What is the status of the base?
    • No it will stay open until next year but not much going on there. The state and township take it over next year
  • Is the facility going to remain open as a Joint Reserve Base after NAS is decommissioned?
    • No it is going to be taken over by the state and township
