Naval Air Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

Assigned to VC-10 as Squadron Corpsman from 1969-1971. TAD to NAS Dispensary. Qualified on HU-16 type aircraft and flew SAR missions for NAS. I had a relatively good tour, accompanied by wife and son and lived at VL-603C on main side. The downside of my tour was two back-to-back Flight Surgeons who were definitively not people persons and felt that the Corpsmen were their whipping boys. Worked for one of the greatest chiefs that I ever had the pleasure to know HMC Charles M Jones, USN. That man was the highlight of my tour and my reason for staying in the Naval Reserve until 1992.
