  • i served on the gen. hoyt s. vandenberg in 1969 as a second electrician.the chief engineer`s name was corcoran. we hit pearl harbor, adak, yokosuka, kwajellien etc while i was aboard, as well as spending a month or 2 off the kamchatka penninsula. guess that`s what those big antennas were for....

    @ 1816 . USNS UPSHUR TAP 198 1961-1963 Great duty but not my kind of Navy that I grew up with from 1945-1966
  • I would like to hear from any MSTS vets. MSTS was a very proud service doing a great job of trasportation for our troops and supplies overseas. I served 2 years onboard the Gen. Wm. O. Darby TAP-127. out of Brooklyn NY.
