  • Welcome aboard Glenn! Looks like we shared some real estate at different times in our careers. Not far from you now, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma  here. Working though. Love the Ozarks too. Enjoy your retirement Shipmate!

  • Born and raised in Muskegon & Arcadia. Joined in 1959, retired in 1979.    Served in FASron 107 - Iceland, on the FDR - CVA 42, USS Piedmont AD17.  Mare Island Naval Shipyard, CA. NAS Alameda, National Naval Dental Center Bethesda, NAS Albany & NAS Barbers Point.  Retired to  the piney woods in the Ozarks of Missouri.(God's Country) & here to stay!!

  • Born and raised in Redford Twnsp just West of Detroit .. Joined USNR in Southfield, MI in Jan 1970 .. Lucky 'cause in Feb as being the Number 10 draft pick they tried to get me in the Army .. was just two weeks ahead of 'em on on that one.  Wound up in Vietnam anyway the next year.  I still have two Sisters living near Ann Arbor .. but my homestead is now in California .. Always proud to be from Michigan.  

  • Thanks for the "welcome aboard" Richard.....thinks in Michigan are looking up!  Weather's getting warmer (88 degrees today); the State thinks we'll pull in more revenue that they first thought a few months ago and more businesses are moving into Michigan!  Woot  woot!

  • Welcome aboard Al. Glad to have you join us. There's a lot of Navy you have there. Looks like you were working at the Dearborn Plant when my Uncle and cousins were there. Always good to see how committed my fellow Michiganders were to the Navy and our country. Makes me proud. Hope you had a great Easter. Once again, welcome aboard Shipmate. Have a great week!

  • Alphonse J. Larivee BT/3. Born & raised in Detroit Graduated from Cody High School 1961. Jioned the Navy August. Boot camp San Diego Company 369. First duty station U.S.S.Yorktown CVS-10 homeported in Long Beach,Ca. Made 2 Wespac cruises. BT "A"School Great Lakes,Ilinois. Sent to Charleston,SC aboard the U.S.S.Bordelon DD-881. Made a Med cruise,transited the Suez Canal.. Made shellback April 1964.Honorably discharged July 1965,as the ship was heading back to the Med.Worled at Ford Motor Co.Dearborn,Michigan in the powerhouse as a supervisor until October 1984.Currently living in Selma,North  Carolina Retired from Eaton Corporation in 2007. By the way my first ship is now a Museum where my last ship was Charleston. I go to the reunions every October. After all this time i still know my way around the Yorktown. It's great getting together with the other crewmembers. We still have about a dozen that served on her during WW-2 that attend the reunions. Do i miss the Navy? Yes. Would i go back probably not. Too many changes not to my liking.
