Letter Rec'd by Navy Vets from the Ahern Foundation

I wanted to tell you about the remarkable work of a Massachusetts family, The Ahern’s. A Veteran himself, Bob Ahern and his family formed The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation in response to 9/11 in November of 2001 as a charitable nonprofit organization to assist veterans and current members of our military fighting the war on terrorism. Through their fundraising efforts they donate substantial financial grants to military support organizations that deal directly with affected veterans and military personnel who are facing many challenges along with their families. Despite current economic times, the Ahern family is continuing to raise generous support for the children of American soldiers in a year where these families need help more than ever. The Ahern family are currently getting ready for The Fifth Annual Army–Navy Football Luncheon put on by the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation Saturday, December 6 at The Bostonville Grille in Lynnfield, MA. The event will raise funds to support Operation Ensuring Christmas, a non-profit organization that provides financial, moral and rehabilitative support to the children of American soldiers who have been killed since September 11, 2001 in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to watching the 109th Annual Army-Navy football game, the event will include a buffet luncheon, a silent auction, a live auction and raffle. The luncheon begins at 11 am and the football game starts at 12 noon. The Ahern’s are a family with various interests and occupations: Law Enforcement, Lawyers, Homemakers, Secretaries, Teacher's Aid's, and Retirees, who are united by a single goal - to raise money and awareness for those veterans past, present and future who may be in crisis and in need of assistance. (For more information on the board visit http://www.ahernfoundation.org/board.htm) Through grants to military assistance organizations, the foundation has been able to help provide services ranging from financial grants and scholarships to psychological treatment for families of deployed troops and lodging for families visiting their wounded and injured loved one while undergoing treatment. This year’s luncheon will help support Operation Ensuring Christmas, an organization that was founded with the purpose of bringing a little extra joy to children who have lost a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan. Operating Ensuring Christmas provides these children with a reason to smile, with Christmas gift cards that allow them to shop for toys at Christmas and a ‘Christmas in July’, VIP theme park trip to Orlando Florida. I have attached the press release for the event. If you need more info on the event and foundation you can find it at www.ahernfoundation.org. You can also learn more about Operation Ensuring Christmas at www.OpChristmas.org I hope will consider writing about The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation and the upcoming event. Thanks in advance for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you!
