Talos 49 Radar School
FTM3 John Kilburn. I attended Talos "C" school as a push button third class P.O. Class DD7402. Remember getting an "outstanding" award at base wide dress inspection. Reported for "award", found it to be standing watch in cripto building...LOL. Were only 5 of us in the class, one went AWOL after visiting Vallejo church never to return. Island now all condos.... Enjoy the grad picture, I'm the standing third class...outstanding sailor, huh?

Mare Island was my most enjoyable duty station during my 14 years in the Navy. Attended TALOS Missile Test, TATTE, "C" school in 1971. Check into the "New Barracks" in front of H-1 the day before they were dedicated. After graduation, I moved aboard the USS Long Beach CGN-9, while she was being refuled there. After detaching from the Long Beach just before Christmas of 1974 when she was heading back to WESPAC, I reported back for AN/SPS-48A Radar "C" school Jan 75 to Sept 75. Returned for AN/SPS48C upgrade while on Instructor Duty for the AN/SPS 48 at Dam Neck, VA. in 1978.
Hey, Jim Donaldson, I was there in 1968 as a student in TALOS/TATTE "C" school.

How's everyone doing? It's definitely nice to see the site of the old CSTSC school house. Brings back great memories! This is where I acquired my DS "A" skills back in 1989; followed with "C" school up on the hill (AEGIS UYK-43 pipeline). I didn't think I would stick around the Navy this long, but I did. Now, I'm just a few months away from termnal leave and getting my trinkets ready for the shadow box. Anyone know where I can get a CSTSC coin? Not available on Ebay. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your input/assistance in advance!
Cheers,

The only instructor I can recall is Marine Sgt. John Stewart, who taught the KY-8 night class. That would have been a couple years after your time, though.
Greetings. I wasn't stationed here but my Dad was. My Father FTCS Keith Cottrell retired here June 1, 1979. I can recall that day like it was yesterday. My parents are presently living in Boise, Idaho and I'm teaching English in China. Thanks to you all for your service to our country. ( Brian. prior-Navy AK2 ( AW ) )
Hi All, I was stationed at CSTSC from May of 1969 to Feb 1975. First as a student in DS school and then as an instructor in 642A and B school. CWO Norman Reece was the commander of the school then.
