I WAS IN GETMO MANY TIMES. I REMMBER THE CATTLE TRUCKS RIDES TO THE BEER HALL. MY TIN CANS WERE CHARLES P. CECIL DDR 835 AND GYATT 715.
Wm. E. Gardner was in around the same time as me. However, I didn't serve on a tin can, just travelled on them from Guantanamo Bay to Jamaica for Liberty. I was in GTMO from 1960-62 and our only liberty was when a tin can would ask the Commandant for a liberty trip to Jamaica. The Commandant would approve the weekend trip only if they would take some of the Base Personnel with them. I got to go on 4 weekend cruises in my 2 years.
